    • Cres

Join us for this exploration of Croatia’s spectacular coastline between Opatija and Split, a land of stunning scenery and equally enthralling architecture where landscapes have all the appeal of an Edward Lear painting. When devising the itinerary for the vessel which accommodates just 36 guests we did so with the view that we have a private yacht and were therefore able to create a journey that is somewhat different from regular cruises. Whilst Croatia itself is no longer a secret, this new and appealing itinerary steers clear of the well-trodden tourist trail and is timed for autumn when you can wander through the delightful towns and cities in the absence of summer crowds.

During our exploration of the region we will walk the atmospheric old town of Rovinj, visit one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world in Pula and spend an afternoon inland exploring Krka National Park, a magical place of waterfalls and gorges. We will also travel to the Istrian interior, an area of disarming beauty characterised by fertile valleys with hilltop villages, where we explore the captivating walled town of Motovun, located in the middle of truffle territory with breathtaking views from its ramparts. In addition we will visit the historic cities of Zadar, Sibenik and Split with their history dating back through the Middle Ages to the Roman Era, and the charming islands of Cres and Mali Losinj.

This heady mix of ports and islands represents a fascinating itinerary combining as it does some ‘must see’ sites together with some quieter spots that the Croats themselves escape to. For those who enjoy discovering Medieval towns, exploring Roman sites and cruising amongst some of the world’s most beautiful coastal scenery whilst accompanied by a small group of like-minded travellers, our journey along the coast of Croatia will surely appeal.

    Itinerary

    • Cres
    • Rovinj

Day 1 London to Opatija, Croatia.

Fly by scheduled flight to Zagreb and transfer to the Queen Eleganza in Opatija. After settling into your cabin, enjoy welcome drinks and dinner. We will moor overnight allowing time to enjoy an evening walk in this genteel resort. (D)

    Day 2 Cres.

During breakfast we will cruise to the nearby island of Cres, mooring in the sheltered scenic Medieval harbour at Cres Town. Enjoy a walk through the atmospheric streets which have a strong Italian feel having been under Venetian rule in the 15th and 16th centuries. We will continue to the former fort city of Lubenice. Situated on a cliff 378 metres above the sea we will explore the fortress, city gates, houses, chapels and winding streets of this evocative site and enjoy the stunning views over the bay below. Dine on board this evening and perhaps take an after dinner stroll along the seaside promenade. (B, L, D)

    Day 3 Rovinj.

Sail today to the Istrian peninsula and the atmospheric town of Rovinj where the houses inside the old town are small and lean into each other creating a unique atmosphere. Our afternoon guided walking tour will include a visit to the town’s main landmark, St Euphemia Church, which is built on the top of a small hill. This Baroque building built in Venetian style was dedicated to the saint and martyr whose sarcophagus, according to a legend, was miraculously washed ashore somewhere around 800 AD. (B, L)

    Day 4 Motovun & Momjan.

Today we will travel to the Istrian interior, an area famed for its picturesque villages, vineyards producing fine Malvasia and Teran wines and the forests that produce Istrian white truffles. On a morning walking tour we will explore Motovun which is perched on a hill in the Mirna River Valley with its Romanesque-Gothic bell tower, the Renaissance Church of St Stephen, designed by Andrea Palladio, and the charming central square. After a lunch of local specialities we will head into the agricultural area around Momjan where some of Croatia’s finest olives and vines have been grown for thousands of years. We will visit a local vineyard and enjoy a tasting of the Muscat and Malvasia wines which are typical of the region before sampling the olive oil. Return to the ship, which has sailed to Pula, for dinner on board. (B, L, D)

Day 5 Pula & Mali Losinj.

Spend the morning at the tip of the Istrian Peninsula and the former Roman settlement of Polensium, now known as Pula. On a morning tour we will discover one of the best preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world. The Arena, built in the 1st century AD was designed to host gladiatorial contests with seating for up to 20,000 spectators. Exploring the town further we will see the varied architecture including Baroque palaces, Christian churches and Austrian villas. Sail this afternoon to Mali Losinj which sits at the foot of a protected harbour on the southeast coast of Losinj Island. It is the island’s mild climate and rich flora that gave Mali Losinj its reputation as one of the most fragrant islands in Croatia; its air is scented with lavender, sage and rosemary. The seafront of the old town is lined with a string of imposing 19th century houses and villas. Dine ashore tonight in this stunning location. (B, L)

    Day 6 Zadar.

After a morning sailing we arrive at Zadar. Once a dominant city on the Adriatic Coast rivalling Venice, Zadar is today a treasured city that has preserved its historical core. Enjoy an afternoon walking tour strolling around the Old Town with its Roman columns and portals, Romanesque churches and Renaissance and Baroque palaces. Of particular interest are the 9th century circular Church of St Donat and the 13th century Romanesque cathedral. In the evening we have the chance to dine in one of the many restaurants in Zadar as we moor overnight. (B, L)

Day 7 Sibenik & Krka National Park.

After a morning cruising we arrive in Sibenik where we visit the majestic waterfalls of Krka. We will take a guided walk on wooden walkways and across bridges through this unique fjord-like landscape with its multiple waterfalls and interesting flora and fauna. Return to Sibenik and enjoy an early evening walking tour through the historic town seeing the Cathedral of St James, the old city walls and the theatre before taking the chance to dine ashore. (B, L)

    Day 8 Split.

Sail today to Split and this afternoon we take a guided walk through the town. Explore the Palace of Diocletian, built by the emperor in 295-305 AD as his retirement villa. Much of this large building is well preserved and the palace contains Split’s old town within its walls, making it the only Roman palace that has been continuously inhabited since Roman times. It is a wonderful spot to wander the maze of streets. Return to the ship for our farewell dinner on board. (B, L, D)

    Day 9 Split to London.

Disembark this morning and transfer to the airport for our scheduled flight to London. (B)

The tea/coffee station is located in the restaurant here. Sun Deck: The Sun Deck has sun loungers and seating for outdoor dining (weather permitting).

      QUESTIONNAIRE

Your comments are important to us therefore before your cruise ends, you will receive a questionnaire. We are always looking for ways to improve our service and in order to do this we request some feedback from our guests. Kindly hand your completed questionnaire in to your Cruise Director.

      QUIETVOX

During our excursions, we use a whisper system called Quietvox. In your cabin there is a charging station with two devices and two sets of earpieces. Please keep your devices in the charging station (and the station plugged in) whilst you are not on an excursion. Bring the sets with you on excursions as your guides will speak to you through their microphone. The use of the equipment will be explained before the first excursion starts.

      SAFE

There is a safe in every cabin, together with instructions. We recommend that you leave money and other valuables in the safe. Kindly remember to remove all items from the safe before disembarking the ship at the end of your cruise. Please note that neither the ship, nor Noble Caledonia, are responsible for any valuables left in the cabins.

      SAFETY DRILL

The safety briefing will take place prior to sailing. All guests must attend this compulsory and important exercise. Please listen for the announcements.

      SANITISER

Please use the hand sanitisers near reception and the restaurant.

      SHIP’S BERTH

At busy times during the season there may not be enough berths immediately adjacent to the pier. It will then be necessary to berth two or more vessels side by side, allowing passengers to pass through the neighbouring ship(s) to go ashore. This requires special care, as ships are not allowed to have a permanent gangway between them. Views from cabins may therefore also be restricted.

      SMOKING

Smoking is restricted to the designated open areas only. Smoking is prohibited in all other areas including cabins and the restaurant.

      SWIMMING

Swimming opportunities are dependent on the itinerary, weather conditions and sea temperature. Swimming from the ship will only be offered when there is a minimum water temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and is permitted at the Captain’s discretion. There is no snorkelling equipment on board the ship.

      TELEVISION

There is a television in each cabin. TV reception depends on the satellite dish and on occasion it may not be possible to receive a signal.

      TOILETS

Please do not put anything into the toilet except toilet paper.

      TOWELS

Towels will be changed once in the middle of your cruise. Should you need new towels earlier, please let the housekeeper know. Please do not use the bathroom towels on the beach. A separate towel for swimming will be provided.

      WATER

The tap water in your cabin is not potable. In order to reduce the damage caused to the environment and wildlife by plastic, we have placed a reusable steel water bottle in your cabin. This can be filled using the central filtered water system located in the restuarant which provides unlimited water throughout your cruise. Please kindly ensure bottles are left in your cabin on departure.

We hope this information booklet answers any questions you may have pertaining to the vessel and wish you a pleasant voyage.

PLEASE NOTE: The information contained in this booklet should be used as a guideline only. Information is subject to change.

This modern & stylish vessel is one of the finest Croatian flagged vessels of her kind and we believe she is the perfect vessel from which to explore the Croatian coast. Carrying a maximum of just 36 guests, there is the added benefit of a relaxed and intimate atmosphere on board.

The Sun Deck, with its comfortable sun loungers, is the perfect place to watch the passing scenery and the team of friendly Croatian crew will provide you with excellent service and hospitality throughout the ship. To enhance your voyage further there is also a Noble Caledonia Cruise Director on board. Dining on board is a casual affair and the menus feature locally sourced fresh food including fish. When dining ashore independently, your knowledgeable Cruise Director will recommend popular local restaurants.

We hope this information booklet answers any questions you may have pertaining to the vessel and wish you a pleasant voyage.

      DINING, DRINKING & DIETARY REQUIREMENTS

Meals on board are either buffet style or served and there is one sitting with an open seating arrangement. When the weather permits, lunch and dinner may be enjoyed in the covered outside area of the Sun Deck.

If you have any dietary requirements such as vegetarian, low salt, gluten free or low cholesterol, please notify the Reservations Department at Noble Caledonia. Please also advise if you do not, or cannot, eat fish and shellfish as these feature regularly on the lunch and dinner menus. We regret that not all dietary requests can be guaranteed. If you have any specific or special foods that you require we recommend that you take some with you although we will endeavour to accommodate your needs. Once on board, please speak to the Chef or the Maitre D’ at dinner on your first night on board to reconfirm your requirements.

Complimentary self-service tea and coffee, with fruit and biscuits, are available in the restaurant 24 hours a day. There is also a water station located in the restaurant where you can refill the reusable water bottle provided for you in your cabin.

Whilst the number of included meals on board is fixed, please note that the order of the days may change and, if so, this will be advised once on board.

On nights when you are free to dine independently ashore, if instead you wish to stay on board for dinner, this is possible at a rate of €25 per person each time, which will be added to your onboard account. 24 hours advance notice is required.

There is no doctor on board. Should you be in need of medical assistance, please contact a member of the crew who are first aid trained, or the Cruise Director. Passengers requiring special medication are advised to bring a supply with them. Should you need to restock your medication, please advise the Cruise Director or a member of the crew as soon as possible as pharmacy opening hours in Croatia are restricted.

      DRESS CODE

On board the emphasis is on comfortable and casual clothing at all times. The dress code is very informal. You may like to wear smart casual clothing for the welcome and farewell dinners and when dining ashore. Meals ashore: Please ask your Cruise Director for a list of recommended restaurants. If you should find a restaurant that was not mentioned and you liked it, please let your Cruise Director know for the benefit of future passengers. Whilst most restaurants accept major credit and debit cards, we recommend you check before ordering.

      GRATUITIES

Gratuities to crew and whilst on excursions are included in the cost of your holiday.

      HOUSEKEEPING

As there is only one housekeeper, you are kindly requested to hang out the “Please clean my cabin” sign whilst you are at breakfast.

      INTERNET

The ship offers a free Wi-Fi connection in the public areas and the cabins. Depending on the ship’s location, there may be times when the connection is very slow or is disrupted and the same level of connectivity that you enjoy at home cannot be expected on board.

      LANGUAGE

All members of the crew speak English.

      LAUNDRY SERVICE

Due to the size of the ship there is no laundry service on board.

      LIFE JACKETS

Your life jacket can be found in your cabin. Please do not remove the life jackets from this location.

      LIFE RAFT

The ship carries two life rafts.

      LOST PROPERTY

Before you disembark the ship, please check your cabin to ensure you do not leave anything behind. If you discover you have left any items behind, please contact Noble Caledonia within seven days of disembarking. If we are able to recover your item(s) we will contact you to arrange delivery or collection, and any costs incurred will be at your own expense.

      MONEY

On Board: A “cashless” system is operated on board and any purchases will be charged to your cabin account. Bar prices are displayed in Euros, but the final account can be settled in Croatian Kuna, Euros or British Pounds, at the end of your cruise. Visa and MasterCard credit and debit cards are accepted on board, but Personal cheques and Travellers’ Cheques are not accepted. Ashore: Please note that the currency in Croatia is the Croatian Kuna, the currency in Montenegro is the Euro and in Bosnia & Herzegovina is the Convertible Mark. Most major credit cards are accepted, but please check before making your purchase in shops, or ordering your meal or drinks in restaurants and bars.

      PUBLIC AREAS

Upper Deck: On the Upper Deck you will find the bar, restaurant, lounge, and public restrooms. The lounge has a small library of books, games and DVDs.
