Responsible Travel
We aim to ensure that our interactions with local communities and habitats, the world over, are beneficial both to our guests and to the places we take them to. Since our establishment in 1991, we have had a long-standing commitment to being a responsible player in the travel industry with an awareness of our duties towards the ecosystems and communities that we visit. We continually strive to operate more responsibly, reducing our footprint and making a positive difference. Each of our journeys is planned thoughtfully and carefully to treat the areas we visit with respect and consideration so that we can continue to offer the authentic experiences that our guests enjoy.
Our small ships are vastly better for the environment and communities we visit when compared with travelling aboard a large vessel. Our vessels do not require all the supporting infrastructure necessary to service the large ships and their passengers in port and instead have the ability to reach the smaller, less-visited ports and out of the way places that are not overwhelmed by crowds from the larger ships. Passenger numbers for our escorted land tours are also kept small to minimise any negative impact and enhance our guest’s experience.
We have been working with our carefully selected suppliers for many years and have long standing relationships with local companies and guides in the areas we visit. This, together with the inclusion of shore excursions and tips in the cost of our holidays, ensures travel experiences that directly benefit both our clients and the communities we visit.
Our Climate Commitment: Noble Caledonia recognises the risks and challenges posed by climate change, and our own contributions towards it via the emission of greenhouse gasses. We align with the global goal of limiting global warming to 1.5° above pre-industrial levels, as was agreed by most nations at COP21 in Paris. We understand the decarbonisation required to limit this warming. We align with the IMO’s greenhouse gas strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from shipping to Net Zero by 2050. Whilst our sector (shipping and aviation) lacks immediate decarbonisation options, we keenly track the development of the future fuels and technologies that will enable us to reach Net Zero 2050. Meanwhile we have set ourselves the goal of 30% emission reduction by 2030.
