Susan Stampe
Susan was born in Bexley Kent and attended primary and junior school there. At 11 years old she became a pupil at Maryville Convent, Welling where she passed her GCEs. When she was 17 her father was sent to Milan, Italy on business and Susan and her mother accompanied him and Susan studied at the International School of Milan,She remained in Milan for 10 years and taught English as a foreign language at the Shenker Institute. With a desire to travel, she booked an overland tour as a passenger through Africa and at the end was offered a job as Expedition Leader on overland trips though Africa with one every year for 6 years, each expedition lasting at least four months. Other experience includes TEFL at the Academie des Hotesses in Paris for 2 years, the safari business in Benin and tour guiding in Sri Lanka. Susan was in the safari business in Arusha, Tanzania for several years, and also in the Bangweulu Swamps in Zambia. She also set up and operated a white water rafting company in Livingstone, Zambia. Susan has been a Tour Manager for twenty two years and during that time was Area Manager in Egypt for six years and in Jordan for two years.Due to her time working abroad, Susan speaks fluent French and Italian and conversational Spanish. In her spare time she likes to paint still life and write poetry. Susan is still resident in Bexley, in the family home.
