
Hugh Ellwood
Hugh Ellwood Ph.L, BA (Hons) Arch. RIBA is based in Lytham St Annes in the North West. He was educated in the classics and went to university in Rome to study philosophy. It was here that art and history became a reality and after four years he returned to Manchester to study architecture. Throughout his career he practised as an architect with BDP, the UK’s largest multi-disciplinary organization, including two years in Rome. For over twenty years he was a partner in the practice.
For some years he was an external examiner in architecture at the University of Manchester and for several years was a visiting lecturer in the history of art and architecture at the University of Central Lancashire. He has travelled widely, photographing and sketching to record his tours. He has also lectured extensively to various societies and organisations on art and architecture and is an accredited Art Society lecturer.
