Tom Hiney

Tom is a self-confessed nature geek. His passion was sparked from an early age by being read Gerald Durrell stories at bed time and watching too many wildlife documentaries (if there is such a thing!) as a child in his native England.

Since then every stone has been turned, rock pool searched and as many oceans, mountains, rainforests and savannahs explored as possible. His passion for nature and exploring quickly led to him becoming a SCUBA and Free diving instructor, only briefly interrupted by trips to Everest base camp, hiking in the Atlas Mountains or trekking through Indonesian rainforest (not to mention a couple of ultra sports events!).

His passion for conservation led to further studies in Ecology and Conservation Management and onward to him managing Cousin Island in the Seychelles for two years, a world renowned conservation success story.

Tom since decided that sharing his passions and fulfilling his love of travel and exploration would be better suited to the expedition cruise industry and has been working in it ever since.

An experienced Zodiac driver, public speaker and his energetic personality make him a great addition to any expedition.
