Cameron Walker
Cam was lucky enough to grow up with lots of family adventures tramping and sailing, which installed his passion for the outdoors. Having worked as a Chef for 5 years Cam changed career paths in 2007 studying outdoor leadership. He has worked in a range of outdoor educational roles instructing and leading across a wide range of technical pursuits including mountain, rock, white water and sea kayaking. In 2012 Cam worked on the Sub Antarctic Macquarie Island for 12 months as part of a pest eradication programme. “Living and working in such a remote and stunning environment was a privilege and an amazing experience”. He is currently based in Queenstown NZ working as a contract mountain and rock instructor/guide. This involves delivering technical instruction and outdoor leadership training to many tertiary providers and guiding companies. He also works as a safety consultant providing technical expert services for the adventure tourism industry. During his time off Cam is an avid adventurer, including a mountaineering expedition to Patagonia and sea kayaking New Zealand’s Fiordland coastline. Cam has spent two seasons in the Antarctic working as a ski & mountain guide, Zodiac driver guide and staff trainer. He has worked a season in the Arctic as a sea kayak guide and guide naturalist in the Svalbard Archipelago. He feels very fortunate to be able to guide people and share experiences in such an amazing environment. “I look forward to meeting more great people and sharing experiences in these incredible Polar Regions”.
