The Swedish Education Fund for Liberia
In partnership with Swedish Education Fund for Liberia (SEFL)
The Noble Caledonia Charitable Trust (NCCT) is proud to support the Swedish Education Fund for Liberia (SEFL), a charitable organisation dedicated to improving access to education in Lofa County.
Through years of collaboration and a strong local network, SEFL has delivered meaningful change in rural, hard-to-reach communities — building and renovating over 30 school buildings, restoring water wells across 15 locations, electrifying schools, and supporting night schools and scholarships.

Addressing Barriers to Girls’ Education
In 2025, SEFL launched a focused initiative to tackle the barriers preventing girls from accessing education in Liberia — where opportunities for girls remain significantly more limited than for boys.
Challenges such as teenage pregnancy, lack of menstrual protection, and stigma surrounding menstruation contribute to high absence rates and early school dropouts among girls.
SEFL’s programme aims to empower girls by combining education with health support. This includes providing access to sexual and reproductive health education, menstrual protection, and contraceptive resources — enabling girls to make informed decisions and remain in school.
Education plays a transformative role: it improves quality of life, increases independence, and creates better economic opportunities. By staying in school longer, girls are more likely to contribute actively to their households and communities while reducing long-term dependency.

“Educating girls is one of the most powerful investments we can make — strengthening families, communities and future generations.”
Enduring Impact
With MS Hebridean Sky sailing along the West Coast of Africa in 2025 and 2026, NCCT has committed £2,000 annually to support this important initiative.
With your support, we can extend this impact even further — helping more young women access education, improve their health, and shape brighter futures for themselves and their communities.
