A cruise exploring Croatia’s beautiful coast & islands aboard the Queen Eleganza

  • 22 April 2021
  • 30 April 2021
  • 8 May 2021
  • History and Culture
  • Krka National Park

Come with us to visit Croatia’s spectacular coastline and idyllic islands aboard the Queen Eleganza which we have chartered for a series of eight night cruises exploring the coastline between Dubrovnik and Opatija. The region offers breathtaking natural beauty, intriguing history, stunning architecture and a wonderfully tranquil and peaceful atmosphere and our itinerary has been carefully designed to visit some marvellous places which do not cater for the big ships. Each night we will remain moored in the picturesque harbours affording the opportunity to dine ashore on some evenings and to enjoy the floodlit splendour and lively café society which is so atmospheric.

As we make our way along the coast, highlights of the itinerary will include the historic cities of Dubrovnik, Split, Sibenik and Zadar, with their history dating back through the Middle Ages to the Roman Era and the delightful islands of Korcula and Rab where we will spend time walking through the beautiful old towns exploring the historic wonders. We will also visit areas of great natural beauty including Mljet where we will tour the National Park including its beautiful lakes and Krka to visit the dramatic waterfalls.

Queen Eleganza

Queen Eleganza

For our cruises along the Adriatic coast, we are delighted to have chartered the newly built Queen Eleganza which was launched in April 2018. Beautifully crafted by Croatian hands, this is one of the finest Croatian flagged vessels of her kind and, with a maximum of just 36 guests, there is the added benefit of a relaxed and informal atmosphere on board. The team of friendly Croatian crew members all speak English and their excellent service and hospitality will do much to add to your enjoyment. Meals served on board have a home-cooked feel and feature wholesome, fresh and tasty Mediterranean cuisine and, when dining ashore independently, your knowledgeable Cruise Director will recommend popular local restaurants. This is the perfect ship to escape the formalities of larger vessels and enjoy the casual nature of small ship cruising along the most beautiful of coastlines.

Dubrovnik to Opatija Itinerary

  • Korcula
  • Dubrovnik

Day 1 London Gatwick to Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Fly by scheduled direct flight. Upon arrival transfer to the Queen Eleganza and enjoy dinner on board as we moor overnight. (D)

Day 2 Dubrovnik & Mljet.

Spend the morning in Dubrovnik – the “Pearl of the Adriatic” with a guided walk through this breathtaking city. Its many historic and cultural treasures have earned it the designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. See the major attractions such as the Rector’s Palace, the Romanesque-Gothic Dominican and Franciscan Monasteries, and the Sponza Palace. Return to the ship for lunch as we sail to Mljet. This is one of the few Dalmatian islands that was never ruled by Venice and this is apparent in the architecture and the absence of any sizeable historic town. What it lacks in great architecture it more than makes up for in natural beauty and there will be a tour to the National Park including its beautiful lakes. Dine on board tonight as we moor overnight. (B, L, D)

Day 3 Korcula & Trpanj.

This morning we will cruise to Korcula. Said to be the birthplace of Marco Polo, Korcula boasts crooked Medieval streets, and elegant squares which are flanked with palaces of the old nobility. Enjoy free time to explore before returning to the ship for lunch. In the early afternoon we arrive on the Peljesac peninsula and the small port of Trpanj. This traditional fishing village has a rich cultural heritage and is surrounded with a landscape of vineyards and olive groves. Spend the time exploring the cobbled streets or take a walk along the promenade before we enjoy a tasting of the local wines. This evening take the opportunity to dine in one of the local restaurants. (B, L)

Day 4 Split.

Departing from Tripanj this morning, we will gently sail to Split arriving in the early afternoon. Here a guided walk takes us to the Palace of Diocletian, built by the emperor in 295-305 AD as his retirement villa. Much of this large building is well preserved and the palace contains Split’s old town within its walls, making it the only Roman palace that has been continuously inhabited since Roman times. It is a wonderful spot to wander the maze of streets. This evening enjoy dinner in one of the many restaurants in Split. (B, L)

Day 5 Sibenik & Krka Waterfalls.

After a morning cruising we arrive in Sibenik where we visit the majestic waterfalls of Krka. We will take a guided walk on wooden walkways and across bridges through this unique fjord-like landscape with its multiple waterfalls and interesting flora and fauna. Return to Sibenik and enjoy an early evening walking tour through the historic town seeing the Cathedral of St James, the old city walls, and the theatre before dinner on board. (B, L, D)

Day 6 Zadar.

Once a dominant city on the Adriatic Coast rivalling Venice, Zadar is today a treasured city which has preserved its historical core. Enjoy an afternoon tour, strolling around the old town with its Roman columns and portals, Romanesque churches and Renaissance and Baroque palaces. This evening will provide an opportunity to dine ashore in one of Zadar’s excellent restaurants. (B, L)

Day 7 Rab.

We sail during breakfast for the island of Rab. This afternoon we will enjoy some time at leisure and an early evening guided walk through the picturesque Old Town, a perfectly preserved late Medieval Adriatic settlement squeezed into a slender peninsula along which are dotted a sequence of Romanesque campaniles. We have the opportunity this evening to dine ashore and sample one of the many local restaurants and we will remain moored overnight in the harbour. (B, L)

Day 8 Opatija.

Our final day on board begins after breakfast with a cruise to Opatija. We arrive during the early afternoon for a guided walk through the town and the remainder of the afternoon is at leisure. Return to the ship for the farewell dinner this evening. (B, L, D)

There is a safe in every cabin, together with instructions. We recommend that you leave money and other valuables in the safe. SANITISER

Please use the hand sanitisers near reception and the restaurant.

    SHIP’S BERTH

At busy times during the season there may not be enough berths immediately adjacent to the pier. It will then be necessary to berth two or more vessels side by side, allowing passengers to pass through the neighbouring ship(s) to go ashore. This requires special care, as ships are not allowed to have a permanent gangway between them. Views from cabins may therefore also be restricted.

    SMOKING

Smoking is restricted to the designated open areas only. Smoking is prohibited in all other areas including cabins and the restaurant.

    SWIMMING

Swimming opportunities are dependent on the itinerary, weather conditions and sea temperature. Swimming from the ship will only be offered when there is a minimum water temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and is permitted at the Captain’s discretion. There is no snorkelling equipment on board the ship.

    TELEVISION

There is a television in each cabin. TV reception depends on the satellite dish and on occasion it may not be possible to receive a signal.

    TOILETS

Please do not put anything into the toilet except toilet paper.

    TOWELS

Towels will be changed once in the middle of your cruise. Should you need new towels earlier, please let the housekeeper know. Please do not use the bathroom towels on the beach. A separate towel for swimming will be provided.

    WATER

The tap water in your cabin is not potable. In order to reduce the damage caused to the environment and wildlife by plastic, we have placed a reusable steel water bottle in your cabin. This can be filled using the central filtered water system located in the restuarant which provides unlimited water throughout your cruise. Please kindly ensure bottles are left in your cabin on departure.

We hope this information booklet answers any questions you may have pertaining to the vessel and wish you a pleasant voyage.

PLEASE NOTE: The information contained in this booklet should be used as a guideline only. Information is subject to change.

    ALTERATIONS TO THE SCHEDULE

Our planned schedule may have to be changed at short notice due to weather conditions, technical reasons or decisions by the local harbour masters. Should there be any alterations the Captain or Cruise Director will inform you of any changes.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

During your time on board, various announcements will be made by the ship’s crew and the Cruise Director. Please listen out for these announcements as they will be of importance or interest. You will be able to hear these announcements on the ship’s Sun Deck and in your cabin and public areas.

Each cabin also has an en-suite bathroom with a shower and toiletries including shower gel, soap, shampoo and conditioner. All bathrooms feature a small window. Please note that bathrobes, slippers and face cloths are not provided. Due to the movement of the ship, small amounts of water may collect on the bathroom floor at times.dependently, your knowledgeable Cruise Director will recommend popular local restaurants.

    CRUISE DIRECTOR

Throughout your cruise you will be accompanied by the Noble Caledonia Cruise Director who will be happy to assist you with any queries or requests.

    DAILY PROGRAMME

A Daily Programme, detailing the following day’s arrangements as well as any specific information about the day’s activities is produced on board and delivered to your cabin each evening.

    DINING, DRINKING & DIETARY REQUIREMENTS

Meals on board are either buffet style or served and there is one sitting with an open seating arrangement. When the weather permits, lunch and dinner may be enjoyed in the covered outside area of the Sun Deck.

If you have any dietary requirements such as vegetarian, low salt, gluten free or low cholesterol, please notify the Reservations Department at Noble Caledonia. Please also advise if you do not, or cannot, eat fish and shellfish as these feature regularly on the lunch and dinner menus. We regret that not all dietary requests can be guaranteed. If you have any specific or special foods that you require we recommend that you take some with you although we will endeavour to accommodate your needs. Once on board, please speak to the Chef or the Maitre D’ at dinner on your first night on board to reconfirm your requirements.

Complimentary self-service tea and coffee, with fruit and biscuits, are available in the restaurant 24 hours a day. There is also a water station located in the restaurant where you can refill the reusable water bottle provided for you in your cabin.

During your time aboard the Queen Eleganza there will be several evenings where meals are to be taken ashore under your own arrangements, and several evenings where dinner is included on board. Whilst the number of included meals on board is fixed, please note that the order of the days may change and, if so, this will be advised once on board.

On nights when you are free to dine independently ashore, if instead you wish to stay on board for dinner, this is possible at a rate of €25 per person each time, which will be added to your onboard account. 24 hours advance notice is required.

    DISEMBARKATION

Your Cruise Director will provide you with disembarkation information prior to the end of your cruise.

    DOCTOR

There is no doctor on board. Should you be in need of medical assistance, please contact a member of the crew who are first aid trained, or the Cruise Director. In case of an emergency during the night, please use the emergency call button in your cabin. Because the ship sails close to the shore, medical personnel can be summoned aboard quickly. Passengers requiring special medication are advised to bring a supply with them. Should you need to restock your medication, please advise the Cruise Director or a member of the crew as soon as possible as pharmacy opening hours in Croatia are restricted.

    DRESS CODE

On board the emphasis is on comfortable and casual clothing at all times. The dress code is very informal. You may like to wear smart casual clothing for the welcome and farewell dinners and when dining ashore. Please note that wardrobe hanging space may be limited but no ties or jackets are required for gentleman, or formal dresses/suits for ladies.

    ELECTRICITY

The cabins feature 220 volt current, with sockets accepting 2 round-pin (European style) sockets. Each cabin also features a USB socket but please note that, due to regulations, there are no sockets in the bathrooms. We recommend taking a universal adaptor.

    EMERGENCIES

In the unlikely event of an emergency you will be informed by a loudspeaker announcement. We ask you to collect your life jacket from the cabin, proceed to the marked Muster Station on the Main Deck and follow instructions given by the Captain or crew members.

    FIRST AID

We have an emergency first aid kit on board. If you require any item please contact the Cruise Director or a member of the crew. All crew are trained in First Aid.

    GOING ASHORE

Passengers Ashore Tally Board: There is a tally board on the gangway. Please move the button from “IN” to “OUT” when you go ashore, and move it back on return. If only one passenger of a cabin of two is going out, please move the button into an intermediate position.

Shore Excursions: Please be on time for the organised excursions, so as not to keep others waiting. All shore excursions are included in your holiday price. If you do not wish to participate in an excursion, please let your Cruise Director know.

Going Ashore Individually: When you go ashore individually, please be back on board at least 15 minutes before the advertised departure time of the ship. Please do not leave valuables in public areas, and please remember to lock your cabin. We kindly ask that you return to the ship no later than 11pm after which the outside doors of the ship will be locked. If you plan to stay out longer, please let the Cruise Director know.

Meals ashore: Please ask your Cruise Director for a list of recommended restaurants. If you should find a restaurant that was not mentioned and you liked it, please let your Cruise Director know for the benefit of future passengers. Whilst most restaurants accept major credit and debit cards, we recommend you check before ordering.

    GRATUITIES

Gratuities to crew and whilst on excursions are included in the cost of your holiday.

    HOUSEKEEPING

As there is only one housekeeper, you are kindly requested to hang out the “Please clean my cabin” sign whilst you are at breakfast.

    INTERNET

The ship offers a free Wi-Fi connection in the public areas and the cabins. Depending on the ship’s location, there may be times when the connection is very slow or is disrupted and the same level of connectivity that you enjoy at home cannot be expected on board. LANGUAGE All members of the crew speak English.

    LAUNDRY SERVICE

Due to the size of the ship there is no laundry service on board.

    LIFE JACKETS

Your life jacket can be found in your cabin. Please do not remove the life jackets from this location.

    LIFE RAFT

The ship carries two life rafts.

    LOST PROPERTY

Before you disembark the ship, please check your cabin to ensure you do not leave anything behind. If you discover you have left any items behind, please contact Noble Caledonia within seven days of disembarking. If we are able to recover your item(s) we will contact you to arrange delivery or collection, and any costs incurred will be at your own expense.

    MONEY

On Board: A “cashless” system is operated on board and any purchases will be charged to your cabin account. Bar prices are displayed in Euros, but the final account can be settled in Croatian Kuna, Euros or British Pounds, at the end of your cruise. Visa and MasterCard credit and debit cards are accepted on board, but Personal cheques and Travellers’ Cheques are not accepted. Ashore: Please note that the currency in Croatia is the Croatian Kuna, the currency in Montenegro is the Euro and in Bosnia & Herzegovina is the Convertible Mark. Most major credit cards are accepted, but please check before making your purchase in shops, or ordering your meal or drinks in restaurants and bars.

    PUBLIC AREAS

Upper Deck: On the Upper Deck you will find the bar, restaurant, lounge, and public restrooms. The lounge has a small library of books, games and DVDs. The tea/coffee station is located in the restaurant here. Sun Deck: The Sun Deck has sun loungers and seating for outdoor dining (weather permitting).

    QUESTIONNAIRE

Your comments are important to us therefore before your cruise ends, you will receive a questionnaire. We are always looking for ways to improve our service and in order to do this we request some feedback from our guests. Kindly hand your completed questionnaire in to your Cruise Director.

    QUIETVOX

During our excursions, we use a whisper system called Quietvox. In your cabin there is a charging station with two devices and two sets of earpieces. Please keep your devices in the charging station (and the station plugged in) whilst you are not on an excursion. Bring the sets with you on excursions as your guides will speak to you through their microphone. The use of the equipment will be explained before the first excursion starts.

    SAFE

There is a safe in every cabin, together with instructions. We recommend that you leave money and other valuables in the safe. Kindly remember to remove all items from the safe before disembarking the ship at the end of your cruise. Please note that neither the ship, nor Noble Caledonia, are responsible for any valuables left in the cabins.

    SAFETY DRILL

The safety briefing will take place prior to sailing. All guests must attend this compulsory and important exercise. Please listen for the announcements.
