We are delighted you have chosen the Ocean Diamond for your upcoming voyage. The 224-passenger vessel was completely refurbished in Norway in 2012 and is large enough to provide stability and speed, yet small enough to manoeuvre in remote areas, making her an ideal vessel for expedition cruising. The atmosphere on board is welcoming and informal and the public areas are spacious and dedicated to discovery and relaxation. Relax with a book in the Observation Lounge or perhaps join new found friends in the bar to discuss the day’s events and wildlife sightings.

The vessel is equipped with a fleet of 14 Zodiac landing craft and the Captain, Officers and crew offer a first-class service and have been selected for their professionalism and expertise. After a day of exploration ashore, you will return to the comfort and peace of a well-run and exceedingly comfortable ship. In addition, the expedition team, with their in-depth knowledge and experience are dedicated to offering you the best possible experience during your time on board and ashore.

The entire ship is air conditioned and is set to an average temperature. Please feel free to change the temperature in your cabin to suit your preference using the individual thermostat.

During your voyage you may be invited to visit the Bridge where you can observe how the Captain and Officers sail and navigate the ship. A map of your expedition path will be available so that you can see exactly where you have been. As the Bridge is an important working area on the ship, we ask that you keep noise to a minimum during your visits to avoid distracting the officers from doing their jobs efficiently.

For the Captain’s Welcome and Farewell cocktail we recommend smart casual attire.

The electrical current on board is 220 volts (European Standard) and requires a 2-pin plug. We recommend you bring an international adaptor.

The Medical Centre is not intended or designed to provide ongoing treatment for pre-existing conditions or for extended critical care. If you have mobility issues or walk with assistance devices, please carefully consider your participation on this expedition. Getting in and out of Zodiacs and walking on sometimes rocky terrain can be challenging. The tap water on board is completely safe and drinkable.

Much of the success we enjoy on our expeditions is due to the proper handling and usage of Zodiac landing craft. These rubber boats, of which there are 14 on board, are ideal for our operations; they have a shallow draft and contain air-filled compartments. Guests will be advised where and when to meet the Zodiac for travel to and from the ship. Please ensure that your hands are free at all times and accept the assistance given by the crew when boarding the Zodiacs. A Zodiac safety briefing will be given.
