For this fascinating itinerary we are delighted to have chartered Le Bougainville, a luxurious vessel with just 75 staterooms and suites. Currently being built, this elegant vessel offers a subtle blend of sophistication combined with comfort creating the feeling of being aboard a private yacht. After a day of exploration, you can return to the ship’s spacious and luxurious surroundings and enjoy high quality cuisine with the added advantage of an open bar. Staterooms and suites are located over four decks, and all feature balconies. Public areas include two restaurants, a lecture theatre, a swimming pool, a shop, two lounge bars, a spa and fitness centre.

    Le Bougainville meets the highest safety specifications and the crew of 110 will ensure the best possible service. The ship is equipped with state of the art technology. There is also a doctor on board and lifts that serve all decks.

    Staterooms and suites are spread over four decks and include deluxe and prestige staterooms, both of which measure 19 square metres, deluxe suites which measure 27.5 square metres, privilege suites which measure 32 square metres, prestige suites which measure 38 square metres and grand deluxe suites and the magnificent owner’s suite, both of which measure 45 square metres. All staterooms and suites feature a private balcony ranging in size from 4 to 30 square metres dependent on cabin category. The owner’s suite also boasts a private hot tub. All staterooms and suites feature en-suite facilities, individually controlled air-conditioning, desk with stationery, minibar, flat screen satellite television, video on demand and I-pods. A security safe, hairdryer, direct dial telephone, Wi-Fi internet access, bathrobes and French bath products are also provided.

    Whether you want to join other guests in one of the bars or to relax on your own in a quiet corner of the ship, Le Bougainville has been designed to meet the needs of every guest. On Deck 3 you will find the reception desk, shop and large lecture theatre. The Main Lounge leads out to the Grill Restaurant and pool with loungers and chairs. Leading down to Deck 2 there is a hydraulic platform, with adjustable height, which provides ease when embarking and disembarking the Zodiacs. Deck 4 features the Panoramic Restaurant, and on Deck 6 you will find the Panoramic Lounge offering fantastic views. Deck 7 houses the spa area which includes a massage facility, a hammam, a hairdresser and fitness room.

    Aboard Le Bougainville, the atmosphere is akin to being on your own private yacht. The independence and space of each guest has been considered in the design of the vessel and therefore you will find plenty of places to sit and relax in solitude, as well as areas for social gatherings and to meet fellow guests. The Captain, his officers and the hotel management are European and all crew members are fully bilingual.

    The cuisine on board is worthy of the finest restaurants, where discreet, attentive service is standard. The Panoramic Restaurant is situated on Deck 4 and can accommodate all passengers in a single sitting. This dining area has a buffet of salads, desserts and cheeses, and there is also table service for hot meals. At the smaller, more casual Grill Restaurant on Deck 3, you will have the opportunity to eat lunch outside. House wine and beer will be served during lunch and dinner.

    We are delighted you have chosen Le Bougainville for your upcoming voyage. Le Bougainville is a luxurious ship with 75 staterooms and suites spread over four decks and all featuring a private balcony. The facilities on board include two elegant restaurants and bars, a lecture theatre, a swimming pool and a spa and fitness centre. This newly built vessel is a comfortable and sophisticated base from which to explore beautiful locations, watch for passing wildlife and appreciate the dramatic scenery. Remote areas can also be accessed using the ship’s highly manoeuvrable Zodiac landing craft.

    The Captain, officers and crew have all been selected for their professionalism and expertise and the onboard team, with their in-depth knowledge, be it of marine biology, ornithology or history, are also on hand and dedicated to offering you the best possible experience during your time on board and ashore. After a day of exploration, you can return to the ship’s spacious, five-star surroundings and enjoy high quality cuisine, an open bar and impeccable service.

    We hope this information booklet answers any questions you may have pertaining to the vessel and wish you a pleasant voyage.


    The entire ship is air-conditioned and is set to an average temperature. Please feel free to change the temperature in your cabin to suit your preference using the individual thermostat. If you need help setting the temperature, please ask at Reception. On sunny days, we advise you to keep the curtains closed so that the air-conditioning is as efficient as possible.


    Wi-Fi internet access is available in the cabins and most public areas when using your personal laptop, tablet or smartphone. Please note that, as a satellite internet connection is used, the connection may not be of the same quality as that of a land based service. Sending or downloading large files such as photographs may cause the system to slow down and use up your available minutes. There is a charge for this service which will be advised. Please note that should you wish to make external calls from the telephone in your cabin, there is also a charge for this.


    A Daily Programme, detailing the following day’s arrangements as well as any specific information about the day’s activities is produced on board and delivered to your cabin each evening during the turndown service.


    The ship features two restaurants which have an open seating policy.

    Panoramic Restaurant – Deck 4 Breakfast is in the form of a self-service buffet. Main courses at lunchtime are served at the table, whilst starters, desserts and cheese are at the self-service buffet. Dinner is “à la carte” and served in an elegant ambiance. The cuisine is French and international served with a selection of fine wines.

    Grill Restaurant (serving lunch only) – Deck 3 A casual outside seating dining venue where the lunches are buffet style and offer a range of light salads, fresh flavours, grilled dishes and desserts. As places are limited, please reserve a table beforehand with the Maitre D’. The ship also features two lounge bars.

    Main Lounge - Deck 3 A large lounge with bar which can accommodate all passengers.

    Panoramic Lounge – Deck 6 A smaller area affording excellent views and casual seating. Coffee, tea, fruit juices and an assortment of pastries are available for early risers. Room service is also available 24 hours a day.


    Special dietary requests such as vegetarian, diabetic, dairy free, gluten free, low fat, low salt and low cholesterol should be made with Noble Caledonia in advance. However, we recommend that you contact the Maitre D’ once on board to reconfirm such requests. We regret that these, and any other special dietary needs, cannot be guaranteed.


    There are lifts on the ship which serve all decks.


    Your Cruise Director / Expedition Leader will provide you with disembarkation information prior to the end of your cruise.


    A medical doctor and a nurse are on board at your disposal. A fee is charged for any consultations and medication prescribed. Please ensure you carry adequate supplies of any regular medications you may require.


    During the day, comfortable casual attire is appropriate. The evenings are smart casual (e.g. a shirt and trousers for gentlemen and a skirt and blouse for ladies). There will be a Welcome and Farewell Dinner, so you may like to bring something a little dressier for these events, for example, gentlemen may wish to wear a jacket and tie, and ladies a dress or trouser suit. Black tie is not required.


    The electric current on board is 220V (European Standard) and 110V (North American Standard). There are outlets in each cabin and bathroom. We recommend that you bring an international adaptor. For safety reasons, the use of irons or hair straighteners in your cabin is forbidden.


    The fitness room is located on Deck 7. Please ensure that you are in appropriate health before using any of the machines. If you are unsure, please seek advice from the onboard Doctor.


    Gratuities to crew and whilst on excursions are included in the cost of your holiday.


    Your cabin attendant will clean your cabin every morning and evening. If you do not wish to have service, please hang the “Do not disturb” on the outside door handle.


    There is an onboard laundry service at your disposal during the cruise. Please place your washing on the bed in the bag provided along with the completed laundry form. Prices, bags and laundry forms can be found in your cabin’s wardrobe. The service will be billed directly to your cabin’s account. There is no dry cleaning service available.


    The library can be found on deck 6.


    Each cabin has its own account. A bank card imprint will be requested at the beginning of your cruise. An invoice and a bank card receipt will be left in your cabin the day before you disembark. The onboard currency is the Euro. Accepted bank cards are Visa, American Express and Mastercard. The other payment option available is cash in Euros. Debit cards, personal cheques and travellers cheques are not accepted. Please note there is no foreign exchange office on board.


    You are welcome to leave your letters and postcards at Reception. Please note your cabin number on the documents. The cost of the stamps will be charged to your cabin account.

    The boutique on Deck 3 offers a choice of clothes, gifts, postcards and jewellery. Please be advised that the opening times vary.


    The ship is a non smoking vessel and smoking is permitted in the designated outside areas only. The use of electronic cigarettes is permitted on the outside areas of the ship and on the balcony of your cabin.


    All cabins are outside facing with private facilities and balconies.

    Deluxe Staterooms – Deck 3 Stateroom size: 19 square metres, plus 4 square metres private balcony.

    Prestige Staterooms – Decks 4, 5 and 6 Stateroom size: 19 square metres, plus 4 square metres private balcony.

    Deluxe Suites – Decks 3, 4, 5 and 6 Suite size: 27.5 square metres, plus 6 square metres private balcony.

    Privilege Suites – Decks 5 and 6 Suite size: 32 square metres, plus 8 square metres private balcony.

    Prestige Suites – Decks 5 and 6 Suite size: 38 square metres, plus 8 square metres private balcony.

    Grand Deluxe Suites – Decks 5 and 6 Suite size: 45 square metres, plus 30 square metres private terrace.

    The swimming pool is on Deck 3. Please note diving is not permitted. Sun beds and towels are available.


    Please ask Reception in order to schedule any wake up calls you desire.


    Drinking water is available free of charge.


    In ports where the ship is at anchor, Zodiacs may be used to transport passengers ashore. These rubber boats are ideal for our operations; they have a shallow draft and contain air-filled compartments. Guests will be advised where and when to meet the Zodiac for travel to and from the ship. Please ensure that your hands are free at all times and accept the assistance given by the crew when boarding the Zodiacs. A Zodiac safety briefing will be given if necessary.
