Owned and operated by our Swiss associates, Scylla AG, the four-star MS Swiss Diamond is a 60 cabin vessel built to the highest specifications. Built in 1996 and refurbished in 2006, this first class vessel provides a home away from home with friendly crew and an informal atmosphere onboard. We have chartered the vessel for river cruises in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany for 2014.
All cabins have outside views and category 3 cabins measure 12 square metres with twin beds and a third bunk bed fixed against the wall. Category 1 and 2 cabins measure 12 square metres with twin beds and the Suite measures 18 square metres with a double bed. An opening panoramic window allows you to take in the passing scenery and the cabins are also equipped with en-suite facilities, storage space, a TV/ radio, mini-bar, safety deposit box, individually controlled heating/air conditioning, hairdryer and telephone.
With a maximum of 120 passengers, the vessel never feels crowded and you can always enjoy some peace and quiet or a more sociable atmosphere depending on how the mood takes you. Mingle with your fellow travellers in the bar and listen to evening piano music, relax in the lounge with a drink or enjoy the fresh air on the Sun deck with its comfortable deck furniture. There is also a sauna and the whirlpool is located on the Sun deck. A small library is situated in the lounge. The ship has WiFi and there is also an internet station. A lift operates between the Emerald and Ruby deck and there is also a chair lift to the Sun deck.
The restaurant seats all guests in one sitting and is open seating, allowing you to sit where you wish each mealtime. Breakfast is provided buffet style, with an extensive choice of breads, pastries, fresh fruits and yoghurts, together with hot buffet items. Lunches are a healthy mix of salads from the buffet, with a served hot menu option. Dinner is a slightly more formal affair with served set courses. Also included is house wine, beer or soft drinks with your evening meal. Tea and coffee are served with every meal.
The atmosphere onboard is friendly and informal and within days you will have made new friends in the open-seating restaurant, on the shore excursions or whilst relaxing in the comfortable public areas onboard. You will find yourself amongst like-minded people in an English speaking environment. Meticulously organised excursions make the most of the fascinating places you have come to see and for those who seek peace and quiet, there will always be the opportunity to find a secluded spot on the sun deck or simply rest in your well-appointed cabin. A daily briefing by the Cruise Director will give you information on the next day’s activities and expert, English-speaking local guides provide insights into local culture, architecture, history and traditions. And unlike many other operators, you will be accompanied by a guest speaker who will provide entertaining and informative talks.
