Valerie Grove

Valerie Grove has been a Fleet Street journalist for nearly 50 years - writing interviews and reviews for the Evening Standard (1968-86), the Sunday Times (1986-92), and The Times from 1992, where she now contributes chiefly obituaries.  As a biographer she has written the lives of Dodie Smith, Laurie Lee, John Mortimer and Kaye Webb, but her favourite subject remains Laurie Lee, whose love of Andalusia she shares.  She and her husband, Trevor, former Fleet Street editor who was brought up in Argentina and therefore speaks fluent Spanish, go there regularly.  They have four grownup children and live in London. Valerie's latest book is a selection of the essays of J B Priestley.
