| ATHENS TO VENICE |
| Ancient Olympia, the Palace of Diocletian and the natural beauty of the Dalmatian Coast aboard the MV Aegean Odyssey |
| 12 nights from £2150 |
The clear blue waters of the Adriatic Sea and some of the most breathtakingly beautiful islands and coastal scenery in the world define the Dalmatian Coast. This cruise has been designed to take advantage of the glorious late Spring sunshine that usually favours this region and to take you to the most spectacular landscapes it has to offer. From the numerous sparsely populated islands of the Zadar Archipelago and the Kornati National Park to the dramatic beauty of Kotor Bay, Dalmatia is surely one of the loveliest parts of Europe. It is also where, over the centuries, the richest Mediterranean cultures have left a magnificent legacy of historical sites. On this voyage you will visit some of the most remarkable monuments created by these great, ancient civilisations along the Adriatic Coast including Butrint in Albania, a port that was founded in Hellenistic times, and the vast Roman Palace of Diocletian in Split. Your journey begins, however, with a twonight stay at a first class or deluxe hotel in Athens and a tour of the magnificent sites of the city's “Golden Age” including the Acropolis and the treasures of the Acropolis Museum. As you leave Athens behind, the ship will call at Nauplia where you have the opportunity to see Epidaurus and Mycenae, the port of Katakolon for a tour of the site of Ancient Olympia, and a cruise of the stunning Ionian Islands. Your cruise concludes in one of the most beautiful and enchanting cities in the world: Venice. Here, as well as enjoying a guided tour of the city, you will experience a private evening visit to wonder at the magnificence of St Mark’s: a truly memorable way to end this trip to the gems of the Mediterranean. |
