The Antarctic Peninsula is a beautiful and demanding place that confounds all preconceptions and once experienced it lights the imagination and irrevocably touches the spirit of travellers in a way quite unlike anywhere else. The MS Expedition’s journey to the Great White Continent will begin in the world’s most southerly city, Ushuaia. We then commence our passage to the Antarctic Peninsula where we will enjoy days of exploration amongst the incomparable beauty of its bays and inlets, islands and waterways. The sights, sounds and emotions will stay in your mind forever - enormous tabular icebergs, hillsides covered with thousands of penguins and the excitement on deck as someone shouts ‘whale on the starboard’. A true adventure to the world’s most remote wilderness, this expedition focuses on the South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula, home to some of the planet’s most impressive wildlife and dramatic landscapes. Thousands of different shaped icebergs dot the sea and various seals, including the predatory leopard seal, use the ice floes as a resting place. The Antarctic Peninsula itself boasts a profusion of wildlife including five species of seal, massive penguin rookeries with gentoos, Adelies and chinstraps as well as a variety of whale species and seabirds including albatross, petrels, shearwaters and skuas. You will travel with polar expedition experts and naturalists who are committed to environmental and passenger safety as they are to making your trip a learning, enjoyable and memorable experience which you will cherish for life. |
