| ISLAND HOPPING IN THE AZORES II |
| A 12 night cruise from the Azores to the UK with Peter Warwick and Ian Bullock aboard the MS Island Sky |
| 12 nights from £4395 |
Far out in the Atlantic, some 800 miles from the Portuguese coast, the nine islands of the Azores are known for their spectacular volcanic scenery, abundant flora and peaceful lifestyle. But, the appeal of this remote and unsophisticated archipelago is difficult to define in words. If you appreciate dramatic scenery, walking through verdant mountain landscapes, exploring islands where time appears to be standing still, watching for passing whales and learning about the local people and their customs, then this cruise could be for you. This will be the first time the MS Island Sky has explored the Azorean archipelago but we have many years experience of planning cruises in the area aboard other vessels and know it is just perfect for exploration aboard a small ship. We are therefore delighted to be bringing our very own vessel to the region. This voyage sails the old clipper trade route to the UK. In the times of sailing, the Azores was the confluence of the great trade routes from Africa and beyond and from the continent of South America to Great Britain. On leaving the Azores we will follow in their wake looking out for whales and migrating birds on a 1200 mile crossing that will bring us to the enchanting Isles of Scilly, Britain’s own little Atlantic archipelago and a fitting place for our penultimate call. Although this cruise is not classified as expeditionary, on some days we will offer excursions which will involve the use of Zodiacs to view the coastline and wildlife. With the exception of Corvo where Zodiacs are used to reach the island, the MS Island Sky is scheduled to dock at each island. |
