On 26 April 2007 HRH Prince Michael of Kent, GCVO unveiled the Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express, GW Travel’s private train that brings unprecedented luxury to the world’s greatest railway journey. The Golden Eagle has been carefully designed with an emphasis on your comfort, relaxation and enjoyment. Imperial Suites The most spacious cabins available, the Imperial suites measure 120 square feet and benefit from a King Size bed, a lounge area with dressing table, private en suite facilities with power shower, underfloor heating, individual air conditioning, wardrobe, personal safe, DVD/CD player with LCD screen and two large picture windows. Bathrobes, slippers and toiletries are also provided. Guests will also benefit from butler service, a selection on complimentary drinks from the premium bar list, included laundry service and hotel room upgrades to the next available category according to itinerary. Accommodation The full train comprises three categories of sleeping cars which feature state of the art amenities and all with en suite facilities. All accommodation has been cleverly designed to maximise the available space as cabins convert from a sitting area by day into a cosy sleeping area by night (with the exception of the new Imperial Suites). All cabin categories benefit from an evening turndown service and a cabin attendant on hand 24 hours a day. Gold Class At 77 square feet, Gold Class cabins are well-proportioned and have everything from power showers and underfloor heating to a DVD/CD player, LCD screen and individual airconditioning, wardrobe, large picture window and a double lower bed or the option to use the upper bunk bed. Bathrobes, slippers and toiletries are also provided. Guests in Gold Class also enjoy included drinks off the standard bar list from the Bar Car. Silver Class Silver Class cabins are more compact at 60 square feet but have similar facilities to those of Gold Class. The Silver Class cabins have their own en-suite wet room with washbasin, toilet and shower. Bathrobes, slippers and toiletries are also provided. Dining & Onboard Atmosphere A particular delight of the Golden Eagle are the beautifully appointed restaurant cars, where all guests are accommodated in one sitting. Here exquisite meals are served, carefully prepared by chefs who use local ingredients wherever possible. Whether it be the world-renowned ‘Borscht’ or Omul (a fish unique to Lake Baikal), the culinary experience represents the very essence of Russia. Meals are complemented by wines from around the world, as well as – naturally – vodka. The social hub of the train is the bar car, a great place to relax and settle into the unhurried pace of life on board. Unwind in comfortable surroundings and watch the world go by as you get to know your fellow passengers. Enjoy the sounds of the pianist playing in the evenings; and the bar stays open until the last person leaves. |
